Why Developers Look for a CoinGlass API Alternative
The search for a coinglass api alternative usually starts at the licence line, not the data. As of October 2026, CoinGlass's own pricing page lists four monthly tiers: $29 Hobbyist and $79 Startup, both marked personal use only, then $299 Standard and $699 Professional, which allow commercial use, at 30, 80, 300 and 1,200 requests per minute respectively. A bot that earns money, a dashboard with users, or an agent sold to clients therefore starts at $299 a month. Prices have moved during 2026, so re-check that page before you budget.
The second reason is Hyperliquid. CoinGlass aggregates centralised exchanges well; on-chain perps are where its coverage thins. This post maps each CoinGlass product to the equivalent CryptoDataAPI endpoint, states the tier honestly, and is explicit about what we do not replace. No CryptoDataAPI tier is marked personal use only: Free, Pro and Pro Plus differ in rate limits and endpoint access, not in who may use them.
Product-by-Product Mapping
| CoinGlass product | CryptoDataAPI endpoint | Tier | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liquidation history / heatmap | /api/v1/backtesting/hl-liquidations | Pro | Every Hyperliquid liquidation fill, per event, since 2026-07-23 |
| Liquidation totals (24h) | /api/v1/market-intelligence/liquidations | Free (x402 $0.01/call keyless) | OKX + Bybit + Hyperliquid, rolling 24h; excludes Binance |
| Funding rates | /api/v1/derivatives/funding-rates | Free | Binance + Hyperliquid + aggregators, one coin per call |
| Open interest | /api/v1/market-intelligence/open-interest | Free | Cross-exchange aggregator; exchange, type, limit filters |
| Long/short ratio | /api/v1/derivatives/binance/long-short-ratio | Free | Binance account ratio with 30 daily readings of history |
| Spot ETF flows | /api/v1/market-intelligence/etf/{asset}/flows | Free (x402 $0.01/call keyless) | BTC, ETH, SOL; settled trade days only |
| Fear & Greed history | /api/v1/market-intelligence/fear-greed-history | Free | Daily from 2018-02-01, about 3,200 rows |
"Free" here means available on a free key, which allows 10 requests a minute and 1,000 a day once the email is confirmed (100 a day before). Pro is $29 a month at 30 a minute and 10,000 a day; Pro Plus is $99 a month at 120 a minute and 50,000 a day. Annual billing is $19 and $79 a month.
Liquidations: the Per-Fill Tape CoinGlass Does Not Have
CoinGlass liquidation data is aggregated: totals per exchange per window. On Hyperliquid we capture every liquidation fill from node fill data, across the full perp universe, and serve it as a tape:
curl -H "X-API-Key: cdk_live_your_key" -H "Accept-Encoding: gzip" \
"https://cryptodataapi.com/api/v1/backtesting/hl-liquidations?coin=BTC&start=2026-10-20&end=2026-10-21&limit=1000"
Each row carries time, tid, the coin, the liquidated side, px, sz, USD notional, method (market or backstop), the mark price, liquidated_user and the transaction hash. Rows are ordered by the full (time, tid) key and the response carries next_cursor / has_more. Page with cursor, never with start = last.time + 1: one liquidation order sweeping several book levels is several rows at the same millisecond, and that pattern drops the siblings past a page boundary. coverage.local_first is authoritative for where live capture begins (2026-07-23); no per-fill tape exists anywhere for 2026-05-06 to 2026-07-22, and a window before retention returns [] with coverage.archive_hint set rather than failing silently.
For the CoinGlass-style aggregate, /api/v1/market-intelligence/liquidations returns long and short USD over 1h, 4h, 12h and 24h per coin, with count (events in the 24h window) and source (contributing venues). Two honesty fields: coverage says the totals are OKX, Bybit and Hyperliquid and exclude Binance, which geo-blocks its stream from our infrastructure, so they run below a true all-exchange number. And the top-level grain block says kind: rolling_window, sum_ok: false: these are trailing levels, so never sum or difference successive polls. Incremental flow is /backtesting/hl-liquidation-bars.
Funding Rates and Open Interest
/api/v1/derivatives/funding-rates?coin=BTC returns the current rate on Binance and Hyperliquid plus aggregator legs for one coin. The Hyperliquid block carries history_available and history_status (ok, warming or unavailable), so a history_count of 0 while warming is not a stuck feed. Note the venues settle differently: Hyperliquid hourly, Binance every 8 hours. Normalise before you compare.
For every Hyperliquid perp's rate and open interest in one call, use /api/v1/hyperliquid/open-interest, whose assets[] rows carry funding_rate, open_interest, open_interest_usd, mark_price and oracle_price. For the aggregator view across exchanges, /api/v1/market-intelligence/open-interest takes optional exchange, type and limit (default 250).
import httpx
H = {"X-API-Key": "cdk_live_your_key"}
fr = httpx.get("https://cryptodataapi.com/api/v1/derivatives/funding-rates",
params={"coin": "ETH"}, headers=H).json()
hl = fr["hyperliquid"]
print(hl["history_status"], hl.get("current_rate"))
Where CoinGlass has multi-year OI history for CEXs, our Hyperliquid OI history begins 2026-03-30 (/api/v1/derivatives/hyperliquid/history, Pro Plus, up to 180 days per call), because Hyperliquid's API has never served historical OI. Older OI, mark and oracle exist at one-minute cadence from 2023-05-20 in Hyperliquid's own S3 asset-context archive, which we serve as the hl_asset_ctxs archive type (Pro Plus). Settled Hyperliquid funding goes much deeper, back to 2023 for BTC and ETH via /backtesting/funding?grain=hourly.
Long/Short Ratio, ETF Flows and Fear & Greed
Long/short. /api/v1/derivatives/binance/long-short-ratio?symbol=BTCUSDT returns long_short_ratio, long_account_pct, short_account_pct and the top-trader ratio, with history holding the last 30 daily readings, which is all Binance keeps. The Hyperliquid equivalent is account-level rather than a ratio: /quant/positioning gives long and short notional per trader class. The long/short on Hyperliquid post covers the difference.
ETF flows. /api/v1/market-intelligence/etf/btc/flows?days=30 returns settled US spot-ETF net flow keyed by trade date: flows[] of {trade_date, flow_usd, status: "final", source}, latest, and an in_progress object for the day still being reported with status: "partial" and funds_reported / funds_total. The partial day is never counted in totals, because the newest row on the public trackers is usually an incomplete sum. BTC history runs from 2024-01-11, ETH from 2024-07-23, SOL from 2025-10-28; XRP is a 400 because no free source publishes it.
Fear & Greed. /api/v1/market-intelligence/fear-greed-history?days=365 returns history[] of {date, value, classification} from 2018-02-01, with the standard bands (0 to 25 Extreme Fear through 76 to 100 Extreme Greed). Omit days for the whole series.
curl -H "X-API-Key: cdk_live_your_key" \

What This Does Not Replace
- Binance liquidations. Binance geo-blocks its liquidation stream from our infrastructure, so our aggregate totals exclude it. If your use case is specifically Binance liquidation totals, CoinGlass still has them and we do not.
- Multi-year CEX open-interest history. Our Hyperliquid OI series starts 2026-03-30 and the Binance daily derivatives history route serves up to 90 days. CoinGlass's long CEX OI history is not something we claim.
- A modelled cross-exchange liquidation heatmap. We publish an observed Hyperliquid liquidation ladder instead, which is a different and in some ways better object, but it is not a Binance heatmap. See the heatmap post.
- Options depth.
/market-intelligence/optionscarries BTC OI, volume, put/call and max pain, not a full options surface.
Where we go further than CoinGlass is on-chain Hyperliquid: the per-fill liquidation tape, per-account positioning by trader class, dealer gamma analogues, whale net bias, and settled funding with the oracle price it was paid on. None of that exists in an aggregator built around CEX summary feeds.
When to Switch (and When Not To)
Switch if you trade or build on Hyperliquid, if you want a $29 to $99 plan that is not marked personal use only, or if you want liquidation data as fills rather than as totals. A free key is enough to evaluate every endpoint in the mapping table; the per-fill tape needs Pro, and the deep backtesting routes need Pro Plus. Agents can also pay per call over x402 for the liquidation and ETF-flow routes without any key.
Do not switch if your product is a Binance-centric liquidation dashboard, or if you depend on CEX OI history longer than we hold. Run both for a month and compare the fields you actually use; our docs and /llms-full.txt state the coverage start date for every series so you can check before you commit. Pricing is on /pricing, and the earlier derivatives intelligence post covers the cross-exchange layer in more depth.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the CoinGlass API cost?
As of October 2026 CoinGlass lists $29 (Hobbyist) and $79 (Startup) per month for personal use only, and $299 (Standard) and $699 (Professional) per month with commercial use, at 30, 80, 300 and 1,200 requests per minute. Re-check the pricing page before budgeting.
Is there a personal-use-only tier on CryptoDataAPI?
No. Free, Pro and Pro Plus differ in rate limits and endpoint access; none is marked personal use only. As of October 2026 CoinGlass marks its $29 and $79 tiers personal use only.
What is the CryptoDataAPI equivalent of CoinGlass liquidation data?
Two routes. /api/v1/market-intelligence/liquidations gives aggregate long and short USD over 1h to 24h from OKX, Bybit and Hyperliquid. /api/v1/backtesting/hl-liquidations gives every individual Hyperliquid liquidation fill since 2026-07-23, Pro tier.
Do the liquidation totals include Binance?
No. Binance geo-blocks its liquidation stream from our infrastructure, so the aggregate totals cover OKX, Bybit and Hyperliquid and run below a true all-exchange figure. The response coverage field states this.
How far back does the Hyperliquid open interest history go?
To 2026-03-30 on the daily, 5-minute and candle-bar views, when our 5-minute capture began. Hyperliquid's API serves no OI history, but Hyperliquid's own S3 asset-context archive has one-minute OI, mark and oracle from 2023-05-20, served as the hl_asset_ctxs archive type. Settled funding history goes back to 2023 for BTC and ETH.
