DEX Tokens
Decentralized-exchange tokens. Value accrues with trading volume and fees, so they tend to heat up when on-chain activity and volatility spike.
Quick answer: Crypto Data API tracks 28 coins in its DEX Tokens category, with a combined market cap of $37.56B. The largest is Hyperliquid (HYPE) at $20.42B, followed by Uniswap (UNI) and Aster (ASTER). Over the last 24 hours the category moved +0.30% on a market-cap-weighted basis.

What are DEX Tokens?
DEX tokens belong to decentralised exchanges, the protocols where users swap tokens directly from their own wallet against on-chain liquidity pools or order books. Uniswap, PancakeSwap, Raydium, Curve, Jupiter and Aerodrome are the best-known examples.
The business model is simple: every swap pays a fee. DEX tokens therefore tend to heat up when on-chain trading volume spikes, for example during memecoin seasons and sharp volatility.
What moves DEX Tokens
Trading volume
Swap volume, and the DEX's share of it against centralised exchanges, drives fee revenue.
Fee switch
Whether a share of LP fees is directed to token holders is often the single biggest value-accrual question.
Chain activity
A DEX is tied to its chain's activity. Raydium and Jupiter track Solana, and PancakeSwap tracks BNB Chain.
Emissions
Liquidity-mining rewards attract TVL but add sell pressure.
Key risks
- Volume is cyclical and falls sharply in quiet markets.
- Fee competition from aggregators and new AMMs compresses margins.
- Regulatory scrutiny of front-ends and token listings.

DEX Tokens FAQ
What is a DEX token?
A DEX token is the governance and/or fee-sharing token of a decentralised exchange, such as UNI for Uniswap, CAKE for PancakeSwap or RAY for Raydium.
How do DEX tokens accrue value?
Mostly through trading fees. Some DEXs route part of swap fees to token stakers or buybacks. Others are governance-only, in which case value depends on the expectation of turning on a fee switch.
Which DEX has the most volume?
Uniswap has historically led on Ethereum and its Layer 2s. Solana DEXs routed via Jupiter (Raydium, Meteora, Orca) and PancakeSwap on BNB Chain often rival it during their chains' busy periods.
