Amberdata alternative after the Kaiko acquisition

    Updated 2026-11-04Competitor facts checked 2026-11-04

Kaiko announced its acquisition of Amberdata on 2 June 2026. Amberdata's website and pricing page now redirect to Kaiko's announcement. Its API documentation is still online, but neither company has said publicly whether the Amberdata API will continue as it is. If you depend on Amberdata for derivatives or spot-ETF flow data, here's where Crypto Data API overlaps, and where it doesn't.

We build Crypto Data API, so read this as a vendor's comparison. Every competitor fact below comes from that provider's own pricing or documentation pages, linked under Sources, as of 2026-11-04. Prices and limits change, so check their site before you buy. If we got something wrong, email [email protected] and we'll fix it.

    Which one should you use?

Stay with Amberdata (via Kaiko) if…

you rely on its options analytics (GVOL), on-chain and DeFi datasets, or its Snowflake and S3 delivery, which we don't replicate.

    Consider Crypto Data API if…

you mainly used funding, open interest, liquidations or BTC/ETH ETF flows, and want published self-serve pricing and a free tier while the Amberdata roadmap is unclear.

What we can and can't replace

Good overlap: funding rates, open interest, liquidations and spot-ETF flows. We publish BTC, ETH and SOL ETF flows by trade date, and only for settled days, so you never get a half-reported number.

No overlap: options analytics (we only carry BTC and ETH implied volatility), wallet-level on-chain data, DeFi lending, and warehouse delivery. For those, the realistic alternatives are Kaiko itself, or a specialist such as Moralis for on-chain token data.

Migrating a funding or ETF-flow pipeline

Start on the free tier: GET /api/v1/market-intelligence/etf/btc/flows?days=90 returns settled daily flows, and the API docs list the funding and open-interest endpoints. If you need help mapping fields, email [email protected].

    Frequently asked questions

    Is Amberdata shutting down?
Neither company has said so publicly. Kaiko's announcement describes consolidating resources and solution sets. As of 4 November 2026 Amberdata's website and pricing page redirect to that announcement, while its API documentation is still online.
    What does Amberdata cost now?
Its public pricing page no longer exists, so assume pricing is by contact. Crypto Data API publishes its prices: free, Pro at $29 a month and Pro Plus at $99 a month.
Which API has spot Bitcoin ETF flow data?
Among the providers we compared, Amberdata (BTC and ETH) and Crypto Data API (BTC, ETH and SOL). Ours is keyed by US trade date and only publishes a day once every fund has reported.
